how much would a REAL white freshwater pearl necklace cost? i keep finding ones that are about $30 online. but that means they are fake right? i havent really payed attention when going to stores. how much would a real one cost?

The most expensive freshwater pearl necklace ever offered was at the Spring jewelry show in Hong Kong. A 17-21 mm strand of bead-nucleated "ikecho" freshwater pearls was offered (wholesale) for $200,000 US.
In order to purchase a fine freshwater pearl necklace you are going to spend around $150 online, and in the range of $500 offline in a jewelry store.
A fine freshwater pearl necklace will be very round, almost perfect to the naked eye, have a clean surface, and sharp luster.

A freshwater pearl necklace for $30 will not be round. It will be very potato-shape. It will also have poor luster and moderate surface blemishing. Freshwater pearls of that quality are usually used in designer pieces and not considered fine jewelry.
The best quality freshwater pearls such as freshadama pearls are indistinguishable from the finest of akoya pearls. But these pearls will cost several hundred dollars.
